On Saturday, 12 April, at noon, the Liepāja 17th–19th Century Interior Museum “Madame Hoyer’s Guest House” will host a workshop called “Beadwork in Hoyer’s Rooms”. Under the guidance of jewelry artist Līna Pelēce, each participant will have the opportunity to create his or her own pearl bracelet.

The workshop “Beadwork in Hoyer’s Rooms” has already been held several times at the Liepāja Interior Museum and has been very well received. Participants can make their own pearl bracelet and enjoy the historic house’s cozy atmosphere.

The Interior Museum has already established a successful cooperation with the artist Līna Pelēce. Her pearl jewelry can also be found in the souvenir shop of Madame Hoyer’s Guest House and is a favorite among visitors. They have become a much-loved souvenir of Hoyer’s House for visitors from near and far.

The Hoyer’s Guest Room has been chosen as the venue for the beading workshop again and again because it is easy to imagine here, in the historic interior, how the lady of the house herself would have adorned herself with beaded ornaments at special moments in the late 17th century. The late 17th century was also when the famous Dutch painter Jan Vermeer often depicted pearls in his artwork. One of his best-known paintings is “Girl with a Pearl Earring.”

The pearl is the oldest known gemstone, with the first pearl ornament dating back to 420 BC. It has managed to retain its symbolic meaning throughout the centuries, not only as a symbol of wealth and luxury but also of beauty, feminine strength, and classical elegance.

Entrance to the workshop is EUR 23 per person. Advance booking is required by calling phone – 229905180 or making an appointment at the Interiors Museum’s ticket office. Places are limited.

Please note that photography and video will be taken during the event. The footage may be used for publicity on the Liepāja Interior Museum and Liepāja Museum websites and social media accounts.
